Stat Channels

Channels whose name shows your server's numbers — members, online, growth, boosts.

Right at the top of the channel list there are a few voice channels that nobody enters. Their name is the display: "👥 1.284 Mitglieder", "🟢 187 online", "📈 +14 heute".

It is the first thing someone sees who opens your server. And it updates itself.

Creating one

/statistik anlegen art:Mitglieder

The bot creates the channel, enters the current number and takes away everyone's permission to enter it — it is a display, not a room.

What can be displayed

Art (type) Shows
Mitglieder (members) everyone on the server, bots included
Menschen (humans) members without bots — the more honest number
Bots how many bots are running alongside
Gerade online (currently online) who is reachable
Boosts how often the server is boosted
Mitglieder einer Rolle (members of a role) e.g. your team or a game role
Heute dazugekommen (joined today) joins since midnight
Kanäle (channels) how many channels there are

You decide the name yourself. The template has to contain {zahl}:

/statistik anlegen art:Menschen name:🙋 {zahl} Leute

"Gerade online"

This one type needs an extra permission: the Presence Intent. Discord only reports the online status if it is switched on in the developer portal — for bots on more than a hundred servers only after a review.

If it is missing, /statistik anlegen does not even allow this type and says why. A channel that has already been created stays as it is: the bot does not write a 0 into it, because a 0 would look like a dead server and not like a missing permission.

Without the extra permission, Mitglieder in Sprachkanälen (members in voice channels) and Menschen work — the one shows who is really there right now, the other how big the server is without bots.

Goals instead of counters

A counter ticks. A goal fills up — and someone who comes to the server sees that straight away:

/statistik anlegen art:Ziel mit Fortschritt ziel:1000 name:🎯 {zahl}/{ziel} · {prozent}

Four placeholders are available for this:

Placeholder Becomes
{zahl} The current member count
{ziel} The number that is being worked towards
{prozent} 62 %
{balken} ▰▰▰▰▰▰▱▱▱▱

A goal always counts the members. For everything else you take an ordinary counter.

Which numbers there are

Fifteen types: members, humans, bots, currently online, currently in voice channels, boosts, boost level, members of a particular role, channels, roles, emojis, joined today, new in seven days, birthdays today — and the goal with progress.

Geburtstage heute (birthdays today) only counts whoever has entered their birthday in the Geburtstage module.

Voice channels instead of text channels

Stats channels are voice channels by default, ones that nobody can get into. There is a reason for that which you only notice when you do it differently: Discord rewrites the names of text channels — lower case, spaces to hyphens, some characters drop out. "👥 1.284 Mitglieder" turns into "👥-1284-mitglieder".

The bot does not guess this rewriting in advance but reads back after every rename what is really there. Otherwise it would find at every run that the name is "wrong" and set it again and again until Discord throttled it.

Why it takes up to 15 minutes

Discord allows only two renames per channel in ten minutes. Anyone who renames more often is throttled silently: no error message, the channels simply stay as they are.

That is why the bot updates at the interval that has been set — every 15 minutes by default — and only when the number has changed at all. A faster interval gains nothing; it would even make the display less reliable.

At most eight channels

This is not a sales limit. Every stats channel is a rename of its own, and from about a dozen onwards Discord starts throttling the whole bot — including everything else it does on your server.

Tidying up

/statistik liste
/statistik entfernen kanal:#👥-1284-mitglieder

If you delete a channel by hand, the bot notices at the next run and forgets it.
