Boost Thanks

Anyone who boosts the server gets a visible message and, if you want, a role of their own.

Discord reports a boost itself — as a grey system line, in the middle of the chat, in whichever channel the booster happened to be standing in. A minute later it has scrolled away. Anyone who spends money on your server deserves more than a line nobody sees.

This module turns that into a message in the channel you have set aside for it — and hands out a role of its own if you want.

Setting it up

/boost setup (or /setup modul:Boost-Danke). One entry is mandatory: the Kanal (channel). Without it, nothing happens.

Setting What for
Kanal für die Nachricht (channel for the message) Where the thanks are given. Mandatory.
Text Your wording, with placeholders — see below.
Gespeichertes Embed benutzen (use a saved embed) An embed from the Embed-Builder instead of the text, by name.
Rolle für Booster (role for boosters) Handed out on a boost. Empty means: no additional role.
Rolle wieder abnehmen (remove the role again) When the boost expires, the bot takes the role away. On by default.

The placeholders

🚀 {user} hat {server} geboostet — danke! Wir sind jetzt bei {boosts} Boosts.
Placeholder Becomes
{user} the mention, so with a ping
{username} the name only, without a ping
{server} the server name
{boosts} how often the server is currently boosted
{level} the boost level (0 to 3)
{count} the member count

Server emojis work as :name: — the bot inserts the image.

Trying it out without paying

A boost cannot be triggered just like that for testing: it costs money and lasts a month. Without a trial run you would see your own text for the first time at the moment half the server has already seen it. Therefore:

/boost test

Sends the message with you yourself in it to the configured channel. The role is not handed out while doing so, and the test does not appear in the log either — it is a preview, not an event.

The booster role

Discord already hands out a role of its own to boosters. A second one is worth it if your permissions hang on a role of your own or if it should sit somewhere else in the role list.

Two things about this:

The bot can only hand out roles that sit below its own. That is Discord's rule, not ours. If nothing happens, drag the bot role further up in the server settings.

On expiry it is taken away again — unless you switch that off. Then it stays as a thank-you for someone who once boosted.

In the log

Both events appear under Moderation → Logs in the Mitglieder (members) section:

🚀 @Timo hat den Server geboostet
    Boosts gesamt 14 · Stufe 2

💔 @Timo boostet nicht mehr
    Boosts gesamt 13

The expiry appears only in the log, never in the channel. The fact that someone has stopped paying does not belong on a public noticeboard. In the log it belongs all the same — that is also where it then says why a role has disappeared.

Both kinds can be switched off individually, under "Diese Ereignisse nicht protokollieren" (do not log these events).

How the bot notices this

Discord records on the member since when they have been boosting. When that record changes from empty to set, that is the boost — and the other way round, the expiry. For that the bot needs neither a schedule nor the permission to read along in messages.
