Invite Tracking

The bot keeps count of whose invite new members come in through, and maintains a leaderboard. Useful for recruitment drives and for seeing who really makes the community grow.

How the counting works

Discord does not reveal which invite somebody came in through. The bot therefore takes the usual route: it remembers how often each invite has been used, and on the next join looks at which number has gone up.

That is accurate — with one exception: if two people come in within the same second through different invites, there is no way to say who belongs to whom. In that case the bot counts nothing at all, rather than crediting the wrong person. On a very large server an invite occasionally gets lost that way; that is the price of the leaderboard being correct.

What counts

Zählt = Beitritte − wieder Ausgetretene − zu neue Konten

Zu neue Konten (accounts that are too new) is the protection against second accounts: anyone who has only just signed up with Discord does not count. You set the limit under /einladungen setup; the default is seven days.

Wieder Ausgetretene (members who left again) can be switched off if you would rather have the plain number.

Reward

Optionally the bot automatically grants a role from a certain number onwards — Werber (recruiter) from five invites, for instance. The role has to stand below the bot role, otherwise Discord does not allow the bot to grant it.

Requirements

The bot needs the Server verwalten (manage server) permission. Only with it is it allowed to read the invite list — without that permission the module counts nothing at all, with no error message. /check points this out.

Counting also only begins once the module is switched on. Members recruited before that do not show up retroactively.
