Custom Commands

Create your own slash commands that answer or hand out roles.

Rules, information, the server IP, the application link — things that get asked ten times a day. Instead of typing them ten times, you create a command.

/befehl anlegen name:regeln antwort:Sei freundlich. Kein Spam. Kein Streit.

A panel then opens in which you can build out the answer: heading, colour, roles, cooldown, visibility.

They are real slash commands

This is the most important difference from other bots. Your command appears in Discord's command list, with a description, and is suggested as you type. No ! in front, no prefix that new members have to learn first.

The technical reason behind this is also a privacy reason: for prefix commands the bot would have to read every message on your server. Fishbot deliberately does not ask for that permission. A slash command comes straight from Discord — the bot learns only that someone typed /regeln, and nothing else.

There is one consequence you should know about: after you create a command it can take about a minute before Discord suggests it in the input box. It works immediately, it is just not offered yet.

Handing out roles

A command can give roles and take them away. That lets you build self-service without setting up a whole reaction-role panel:

  • /pc grants the role PC-Spieler
  • /benachrichtigungen grants Ankündigungen — calling it again does not take the role back again; reaction roles are there for that

Under Wer darf? (who may?) you restrict who can use the command at all.

Security

Under /befehl setup there is Gesperrte Rollen (blocked roles). No custom command hands out these roles, whatever anybody configures. Enter everything there that grants real permissions — the same recommendation as with reaction roles, for the same reason.

On top of that, the bot checks on every call whether the role stands below its own. If it does not, it still answers and writes a note underneath, instead of doing nothing without comment.

Limits

Commands per server 50
